Short Guide to the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya and the fountains of Montjuic
The Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya houses a grand collection of Catalan art and design from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including modernisme and noucetisme. It's situated on the hill of Montjuic, in a huge italian-style building from the 1930s. The structure is topped with a grand dome, which was inspired by St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. The dome is flanked by two smaller domes, and at the four corners are towers that were modelled after the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral.

Font Màgica de Montjuïc
The Museum houses a vast collection of Catalan art. Seeing as I didn't visit this museum, I am unable to give you any advice. However, I did view Font Màgica de Montjuïc, the magic fountain of Montjuïc, which is at the bottom of the escalators from the National Art Museum. I wouldn't say it's a must-do when in Barcelona, but when you're in the area at 21.30 or 22.30 I'd say have a look. If you didn't claim a spot 3 hours in advance, you'd best stay at the back, seeing as it's a fountain that's seen high above the crowd. They usually start the fountain show with the famous song "Barcelona" by Freddie Mercury & Montserrat Caballé.

Palau Nacional
Even if you aren't interested in museums, I still highly recommend visiting the Palau Nacional, the building where the art museum is located. It is a beautiful piece of architecture, with domes, towers, and grand windows. It's especially captivating during golden hour. The whole structure bathes in a beautiful glow that gives it an even grander and more magnificent aura. Riding up the elevators makes it even more outstanding, where can you ride an elevator, outside, up to a museum.
